The aim of the course is to provide an educational update on the topic of tuberculosis and to a lesser extent other mycobacterial infections in South-East Asia. Tuberculosis remains the infectious disease with the single greatest mortality worldwide and the majority of cases are in Asia.
The specific education aims are:
- To provide an update on the latest thinking in the management, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis.
- To introduce aspects of the immune response to tuberculosis as relevant to the potential development of new diagnostics and host directed therapies.
- To outline recent developments in the management of non- tuberculous mycobacteria commonly found in South-East Asia.
